Garnet is considered to be a naturally occurring stone.  Garnet is a family of related minerals that have been used since the Bronze Age. This gemstone can be found in Africa, Brazil, Canada, India and USA to name just a few .

Garnet comes in a large range of colors including, red, orange, brown, yellow, and green just to name a few.  The best known type of garnet is a dark red.

Its name originated from the Latin word “granatus”, which means seed as it often resembles a plant with red seeds. In astrology, Garnet is the birthstone for Capricornus and is the month of December 22 through January 19.

Garnet has a long history. It has been traced back to the early Egyptian times when it was used as jewelry beads and bracelets. In mythology, it is believed to bring luck, love, and friendship. In Victorian times, Garnet was the favorite stone for women’s jewelry, as it symbolized fidelity.
